    Bio

Irene received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Bonaventure University and her Bachelor's from Seton Hall University. Prior to becoming a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), she spent over two years in Botswana as a Peace Corps Youth and HIV/AIDS Capacity Building Volunteer. In Botswana, she created an after-school program in her host village to empower unemployed female youth and combat gender-based violence.

With five years of experience in the medical field and almost a decade of counseling experience across the globe, Irene utilizes evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Play Therapy in her practice. In addition, she emphasizes the importance of applying cultural humility in her approach to acknowledge and celebrate all individuals' cultural identities. She believes that all humans are uniquely different and their strengths lie beneath their cultural identity which allows her to utilize various therapeutic tools in order to guide human beings in becoming the best version of themselves.

Outside the therapeutic setting, she enjoys traveling, hiking, downhill skiing, trail running, stand-up paddle boarding, practicing Vinyasa yoga, cooking from scratch, and making lei po'os.
